Luca Locatelli, portrait
Luca Locatelli

Luca Locatelli’s work is a visual exploration of the intersection between humanity, technology and the environment. Through meticulously composed imagery and documentary storytelling, he captures the complexities of our pursuit of sustainability.

His photography serves as both a reflection and a provocation, urging viewers to contemplate the fragile balance between innovation and environmental stewardship in shaping our collective future.

His work has been exhibited at Gallerie d’Italia — Museum of Photography, Turin; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Shanghai Center of Photography; and Somerset House, London, among others. His latest major project, The Circle, premiered worldwide at Gallerie d’Italia, Turin, in partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

His work has been recognised with awards including World Press Photo (2018, 2020), the World Photography Organization awards (2018–2022), the Leica Oskar Barnack Award (2020) and the Nannen Prize (2017), and is widely published in international media such as The New York Times Magazine, Time, National Geographic, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The New Yorker, Geo and Stern.

Since 2004 he is a founding partner of a non-governmental association contributing to the protection of 600,000 hectares of tropical forest in the Amazon.
